Whirlpool's AccuBake kitchen ranges feature sensors that regulate temperature to ensure consistent cooking results with every use. Available in both electric and gas models, these ranges are ideal for the home cook who does lots of baking. Like any major home appliance, you may occasionally encounter problems with your range that prevent it from operating properly. Some issues may require a trained service technician to fix, but you can resolve others easily without assistance if you familiarize yourself with basic troubleshooting methods.
Nothing Operates
If your Whirlpool range with AccuBake Temperature Management System doesn’t operate at all, there is usually a problem with the power supply. Ensure that the power cord is plugged into a grounded outlet and examine your home’s fuse box or circuit breaker. Replace a blown fuse or reset the circuit breaker if necessary. If your range has an electronic display, error codes may appear that indicate what is preventing it from operating. An F9 or F9 E0 code indicates the outlet that the range is plugged into may be mis-wired -- contact a qualified electrician to examine it. With a gas range, make sure the main gas shutoff valve is in the On position if you can't get fire. If the shutoff valve is on and the range still doesn’t operate, it may not be properly connected to the gas supply. Have a trained repair specialist examine the connection and make any necessary repairs.
Cooktop Doesn’t Operate
If your range’s cooktop won’t operate, there may be a problem with the controls. When you turn the control knobs to a specific setting, make sure you push it as you turn. If you have an electric ceramic glass model, ensure that the control lockout hasn’t accidentally been set -- “Loc” appears in the display to indicate that the feature is engaged. To unlock the controls, verify that the oven is off, then press and hold the CONTROL LOCK button for approximately three seconds. If you are using a gas model for the first time and the cooktop doesn’t start, there may be air in the gas lines. Turn on one of the surface burner knobs to release any trapped air from the lines. Clogged burner ports can also prevent the cooktop from working. To clean the ports, remove the burner cap and use a straight pin to clear the holes of any debris or residue.
Oven Temperature Too High or Low
If your range’s oven temperature is running too high or low, the temperature control needs adjustment. To adjust the temperature so cooking times better suit your needs, press and hold the BAKE button for approximately five seconds. The display will show the current setting; use the Temp/Time up and down arrows to adjust the setting. You can increase or decrease the temperature in 10 degree amounts between 30 degrees in either direction.
Poor Cooking Results
While your range is equipped with the ACCUBAKE system that regulates oven heat for optimal baking, you may occasionally encounter cooking results that are not what you expected. Start your troubleshooting by verifying that your range is level. If your model features AquaLift Technology or Steam Clean, place a level on the bottom of the oven and check from side to side and front to back. For ranges without AquaLift Technology or Steam Clean, place a standard rack in the oven and set the level on it. If your range isn’t level, pull it forward to remove the rear leveling leg from the anti-tip bracket. If the range is level but your cooking results are still off, you may need to lower or raise the oven rack for baking.
